2021-2022 Call for Committee InterestCommittee_Interest

Now through May 21, SOAP is seeking volunteers for our 2021-2022 working groups (subcommittees and task forces) and steering committees. Click the committee name to review the executive summary charter; it may also be helpful to review previous working group alignment.

Use the Committee Interest Form to let us know your interests. Note: If you previously served on a committee or working group, there is no automatic roll-over (must volunteer again to continue to be considered).

About the Opportunity

As described in our Leadership & Governance Townhall Meeting on April 28, SOAP committees and working groups serve the critical purpose of guiding and delivering programs, initiatives and work products. They work in alignment with SOAP’s mission, vision and core values and in support of our strategic pillars

The 2021-2022 committees will begin meeting in July. Most will hold virtual meetings monthly, and we estimate the time commitment range to be 3-15 hours monthly depending on your role. The opportunity for volunteer for a working group is open to all members, in every country and every sector of obstetric anesthesia. Steering committee opportunities apply to eligible Active members.

By volunteering, you will join the pool of volunteers from which working groups and steering committees will be populated. To understand the differences:
  - Steering committees are small, strategic bodies that provide overall guidance and coordinate the activities of the aligned working groups.
  - Working groups emerge during the development of the committee action plan and focus on a specific program, initiative, need or task. Working groups and their purposes include:

Subcommittees – formed to carry out a specific program or initiative in the committee action plan
Task forces – formed to address an emerging need or accomplish a specific task
