Iaonnis (Yanni) Angelidis, MD

 Dr. Ioannis (Yanni) Angelidis is a triple fellowship-trained, Board-Certified anesthesiologist and intensivist specializing in cardiothoracic anesthesia, critical care, and obstetric anesthesia. He practices at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where his clinical focus includes robotic mitral valve repair and 3D echocardiography, as well as leadership in cardio-obstetrics and high-acuity peripartum care. He is the course director of Obstetric (OB) Anesthesiology and Women’s Health Grand Rounds program that features prominent national and local OB anesthesiologists. A recognized voice in interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Angelidis serves as co-chair of the SOCCA annual meeting organizing committee and leads national initiatives through SOAP and SOCCA, where he developed joint panel programming at major academic conferences. He has moderated panels and presented at ASA, SOCCA/IARS, SCCM, and SOAP, and continues to shape the field through both clinical innovation and academic leadership. He is passionate about advancing the care of complex maternal and cardiovascular patients through education, systems design, and team-based excellence. He has over 250 citations.

Kristen Fardelmann, MD

Dr. Kristen L. Fardelmann is an Assistant Professor at Yale School of Medicine with a focus in obstetric anesthesiology. She completed medical school at the University of Connecticut followed by anesthesiology residency at the New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. She then pursued obstetric anesthesiology fellowship training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill before returning to Connecticut as a faculty member at Yale University. Dr. Fardelmann is passionate about obstetric anesthesiology, education, and optimizing maternal and neonatal outcomes. She is currently the Assistant Director of the Residency Program and has served as Associate Director for the Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship and Director of Residency Education for the Obstetric Anesthesia Division. With her dedication for obstetric anesthesia, she is Co-editor in Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia Digest and serves on many national committees within ASA and SOAP. Since 2022, she has served as Editor for the SOAP Newsletter. 



Kelly Fedoruk, MD
Stanford University

Dr. Fedoruk, raised in rural Canada, completed her medical training at the University of Saskatchewan, followed by an Obstetrical Anesthesiology fellowship at Stanford. After working at the University of Toronto (2017-2020), she joined Stanford as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2020 and became Quality Improvement Lead for Obstetric Anesthesiology in 2021. In addition to her work in QI, she is passionate about POCUS and simulation in obstetric anesthesiology.

She enjoys treating trainees to take-out on call and, when not at work, spending time outdoors with her husband and two young daughters and going home to Canada to ski.



Robert Gaiser, MD

 Robert Gaiser, MD, is Professor of Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine. His primary interest in obstetric anesthesiology. He is a previous director for the American Board of Anesthesiology and now serves as the Member Board Empowered Representative for the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is the Editor for the Anesthesiology section of Doody Enterprises. He is an emeritus editor-in-chief for Journal of Clinical Anesthesiology and was president of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology, Chair of the Anesthesiology Resident Committee of the ACGME, and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky. He serves on the Committee on Academic Anesthesiology for the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Kaitlyn Neumann, MD

 Dr. Kaitlyn Neumann is an obstetric anesthesiologist actively involved in patient care, clinical research, and medical education. She completed medical school at New York Medical College, anesthesiology residency and an obstetric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and remains on faculty at Northwestern University. She has served as Program Director of the Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program since 2023 and Associate Program Director of the Anesthesiology Residency since 2024. Areas of clinical interest include patient education and peripartum mental health disorders. She holds a Master's in Education and is a member of Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators (FAME), supporting her work in medical education.  


Alexander Samworth, MD

Dr. Samworth is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern School of Medicine. He attended medical school at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, followed by anesthesiology residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He then completed fellowships in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine and Obstetric Anesthesiology, also at Northwestern. Since joining as faculty, he has become director of the senior resident education series and is the director of the regional anesthesiology rotation.

 

 


Emily Sharpe, MD

Emily E. Sharpe, M.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. She completed medical school at the University of Minnesota, anesthesiology residency at Mayo Clinic, and an obstetric anesthesiology fellowship at Wake Forest School of Medicine. She is the program director for the Mayo Clinic Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship.

Her research interests include optimizing pain control and enhanced recovery after cesarean delivery and improving outcomes in the obstetric patient. She is actively involved in the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology and is the Social Media Editor for Anesthesia & Analgesia.



Jessica Sheeran, MD

 Dr. Jessica Sheeran is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia, specializing in obstetric anesthesia and medical simulation. Dr. Sheeran graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her anesthesiology residency and obstetric anesthesiology fellowship there. She is the clerkship director for the UVA SOM anesthesiology clerkship and director of the SOM Clerkship Readiness Course.
